Atlantic City's newest casino got approval to increase its footprint on to the beach this week when the city signed off on the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino's plan to open a beach bar this summer.

According to the Press of Atlantic City, the Atlantic City city council gave the go ahead Wednesday night to the Hard Rock's request to apply for the permits necessary to build and maintain a beach bar.

The Hard Rock's beach bar would be adjacent to its former Taj Mahal Casino site,  between Steel Pier and and Maryland Avenue.

The Hard Rock Casino is hurrying to finish renovations to their new "rock chic interior" and the refurbishing of hotel rooms and suites in order to open by June, with plans calling for 130 table games and 2400 slot machines, more than 150,00 square feet of event space and an assortment of restaurants and concert facilities.
