Drivers using Route 30 to enter or leave Atlantic City next week should plan ahead as a busy bridge will be closed for 30-minute intervals.

The good news is the work is scheduled to happen at night to lessen the impact on motorists.

According to the New Jersey Department of Transportation, beginning Monday, February 26th, through Friday, March 1st, evening and overnight work is tentatively scheduled on the Rt. 30 drawbridge over Beach Thorofare.

For the contractor to safely access the work area, traffic will be stopped in both directions for 30 minutes every hour.

Motorists are advised to use the Atlantic City Expressway or the Black Horse Pike/Albany Avenue to avoid delays.

Truck Detour in Cape May County Starts Friday

Meanwhile, in Cape May County, the NJDOT says an emergency sewer project on Route 109 will require a detour for commercial vehicles beginning on Friday, February 23rd, in Lower Township.

Beginning at 8 AM Friday, delivery trucks and other commercial vehicles on Route 109, which becomes Lafayette Street/CR 633, will be detoured in both directions between the Garden State Parkway interchange in Lower Township and West Perry Road in Cape May.

Local traffic will be able to access Route 109 northbound and southbound during construction.

The detour is expected to remain in place until spring.
