With more electric and hybrid vehicles taking to the roads these days, the state Department of Transportation believes there may be another way to pump up infrastructure.
Motorists can expect to see cones, barrels, and message boards, but NJDOT said those materials would not actually be deployed, since no roads will be closed.
"Reducing a speed in a work zone is a regulatory action, and it's reserved for long-term projects that include changes to roadway configuration, lane shifts, or lane closures," Joe Bertoni, NJDOT Deputy Commissioner, said.
There will be no impact to motorists Thursday morning when the NJDOT commences an annual hurricane evacuation exercise, marking the state's June shift into hurricane preparedness operations.
