During the pre-dawn hours of March 1st, ACPD officers responded to the 2500 block of Pacific Avenue after receiving 911 calls and a ShotSpotter alert. Once they arrived, they found 32--year-old Bilal Freeman and 25-year-old Emanuel Williams, both of Atlantic City, with gunshot wounds. Both were treated at ARMC-City.

An investigation conducted by the ACPD Violent Crimes Unit led to criminal charges being filed against Iree Jones, Shawn Smith, and Abdul Sanderlin.

According to a press release, on Wednesday, detectives observed Jones enter a room at the Roadway Inn in Atlantic City. Jones was taken into custody without incident. Detectives located a loaded handgun inside the room that had been reported stolen from Northfield in January.

Then, early Thursday morning, a state trooper conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 30 in Absecon. Shawn Smith and Abdul Sanderlin were occupants of the vehicle and were arrested. Smith and Sanderlin face additional narcotics charges after heroin and cocaine were found in the vehicle.

All three people are now facing various assault and weapons charges.
