Woman Wanted to Avoid Driving Into NJ so Badly She Did WHAT?
A woman from Tennessee faces assault and motor vehicle charges after Port Authority police said she wanted so badly to avoid entering New Jersey that she drove into oncoming Manhattan traffic, resulting in injuries to a police officer.
NBC New York reported 30-year-old Amber Johnson allegedly told Manhattan PAPD officers as she approached the Lincoln Tunnel on Sunday night that she did not want to drive into the Garden State. The officers instructed her to drive through the tunnel anyway, but she allegedly ignored that request and turned tail, motoring into oncoming traffic.
It was while Johnson was making that alleged maneuver, according to police, that she hit a Port Authority cop, who had to be treated at a local hospital for a wrist injury. Authorities said Johnson continued against traffic across an underpass at 39th and 40th streets, then ran a red light before finally being pulled over near Times Square.
She was arrested and charged with assault, unlawful fleeing, and motor vehicle violations, according to the report.
