Multiple Atlantic City, New Jersey public schools sources and former Board of Education President John Devlin have been telling us for weeks that the state of New Jersey had no intention of taking action against La’Quetta Small at this time.

They were right.

This is why the Atlantic City Board of Education has also been so confident about not taking action vs. Small at the local level.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office has criminally charged La’Quetta Small, who is the Atlantic City Superintendent of Public Schools with the following:

LA'QUETTA SMALL is criminally charged with:

  • 2nd degree endangering the welfare of a child.
  • 3 separate counts of disorderly persons simple assault.

In addition to La’Quetta Small:

MARTY SMALL is criminally charged with:

  • 2nd degree endangering the welfare of a child.
  • 3rd degree aggravated assault
  • 3rd degree terroristic threats
  • disorderly persons simple assault.

CONSTANCE DAYS-CHAPMAN, Atlantic City High School Principal is criminally charged with:

  • second-degree Official Misconduct.
  • third-degree Hindering Apprehension of Another.
  • fourth-degree Obstruction of Justice.
  • disorderly persons Failure to Report Child Abuse.

Days-Chapman was immediately suspended following being criminally charged.

Most are surprised that La’Quetta Small has not been suspended. Not because people don’t agree with the presumption of innocence … rather, because La’Quetta Small is facing serious, multiple child abuse criminal charges.

We have been in search of another example, whereby a School Superintendent is criminally charged with child abuse and is allowed to remain active in her position as an educator.

As yet, we haven’t found another example similar to how this is being handled.

In every example that we have ever heard of … the teacher, principal or superintendent is immediately subsided … pending disposition of their criminal charges.

The state of New Jersey is taking an opposite view. They will not take any action until the criminal charges against her and husband, Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small are resolved.
