MAGNOLIA — A utility worker was killed while three colleagues were seriously injured after a woman drove off the road and into a work site Wednesday morning.

Officials say a woman on North White Horse Pike hit a curb, a bush and struck four workers doing repair work for New Jersey American Water about 9:54 a.m.

The car continued driving and hit two vehicles driving north and south on the road.

One of the utility workers was pronounced dead at the scene.

One of his co-workers was hospitalized in critical condition at Cooper University Hospital while two others were treated for minor injuries at Jefferson Hospital in Stratford.

The woman and two other drivers were hospitalized at Jefferson Hospital with minor injuries.

New Jersey American Water spokeswoman Denise V. Free said the workers were installing a meter pit at the time.

"Our focus is on caring for our employees and their impacted families and friends," Free said.
