11 People are Running for New Jersey Governor: Only 3 to Watch

In case, you didn’t know, in just 11 months, the citizens of New Jersey will elect a new Governor.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy will have served the permitted limit of two consecutive terms, and, next, I see him taking a hard look at running for President of The United States in 2028 … which will also be an open seat, with two-term President Donald Trump ineligible to seek a 3rd term.

There are currently a whopping 11 candidates running for Governor of New Jersey.

In reality, there are only 3 candidates that you need to keep an eye on:

• Republican Jack Ciattarelli
• Democrat Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill
• Democrat Congressman Josh Gottheimer

It’s that simple. One if these three people will be the next Governor of New Jersey.

Ciattarelli is the overwhelming favorite to win the Republican Nomination … as well as being the favorite to win the General Election on November 4, 2025.

Ciattarelli captured an impressive 48.5 percent of the vote in the General Election for Governor in 2021.

This objectively earns Ciattarelli the title as the favorite for 2025.

Gottheimer has already raised $ 20 million for his Gubernatorial bid. He has been planning his candidacy for Governor long before he officially launched it on November 15, 2024.

Many Democrats believe that Sherrill is the current favorite to win the Democrat Nomination over Gottheimer.

Sherrill was one of the first Democrat House members to call for President Joe Biden to withdraw from his re-election campaign.

Sherrill called for this right after Biden’s disastrous June 27, 2024 debate versus President Donald Trump.

While that may be as it looks at this time … do not count Gottheimer out.

For the first time in a very long time, it will be Democrats that will have to spend a fortune to win the Democrat Nomination.

The smartest thing that Republicans can do is coalesce behind Jack Ciaterrelli.

Republicans should save their money for Ciattarelli and the General Election campaign … just sit back and watch Gottheimer, Sherrill, Steve Sweeney and Steve Fulop spend a fortune, while politically carving each other up in a brutal Democrat Primary election.
