An 18-year-old Camden man has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting in the city last weekend.

Camden County Prosecutor Grace MacAulay's office says Nykwan Taylor was charged on Thursday with first-degree murder and related weapons offenses for the death of 21-year-old Daijohn Spaulding, also of Camden.

On Sunday afternoon, March 26th, Camden County Police Department officers responded to the 1400 block of Collings Road in Camden for a ShotSpotter activation.

Officers arrived and found a man, later identified as Spaulding at 3100 Alabama Road, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to Cooper University Hospital where he was pronounced dead minutes later.

The investigation is active and ongoing at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the prosecutor’s office at (856) 397-3485.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
