Atlantic City Police say tips from concerned citizens led to two people being arrested and over 5,200 bags of heroin being seized.

Cops say they received information from residents in Atlantic City about the sale of narcotics in the 1300 block of Baltic Avenue. Last Friday, two ACPD detectives who were looking into those tips stopped two men who were exiting a car.

According to police, the driver of the vehicle, 58-year-old Michael Stewart of Atlantic City, was found to be in possession of seven bricks of heroin, or 350 individual bags. The passenger, 46-year-old Peter Whitted of Atlantic City, was found in possession of 11 bricks of heroin, or 550 individual bags of heroin. After receiving a search warrant, detectives recovered 87 more bricks of heroin inside the vehicle.

Both Whitted and Stewart are facing possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) and possession with the intent to distribute CDS charges. Both were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
