2 Arrested After Gun Found During Mays Landing, NJ, Traffic Stop: Police
Two men from Atlantic County are facing charges following a traffic stop in Mays Landing on Friday afternoon.
The Hamilton Township Police Department says at about 1:15, one of their officers stopped a vehicle near McDonald's in the Festival Mall on the Black Horse Pike.
Authorities said during the course of an investigation, the officer observed the occupants to have a large amount of currency and then a K9 gave a positive indication on the vehicle. A search of the vehicle allegedly revealed a semi-automatic handgun loaded with hollow-point ammunition.
The occupants, 21-year-old Jeremiah Doucet of Mays Landing and 19-year-old Jesus Davila of Atlantic City, were both taken into custody without incident.
They were both charged with second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and fourth-degree possession of hollow-point bullets.
Both men were lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility in lieu of bail.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
