
2 men plead guilty to assaulting corrections officers in Atlantic County, NJ
Two men have pleaded guilty to assaulting corrections officers in Atlantic County.
On Thursday, 20-year-old Bilal Rex of Atlantic City and 21-year-old Samir Abdullah of Galloway Township each pleaded guilty to a three-year term in state prison on a charge of third-degree aggravated assault on a corrections employee.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says on December 12th, 2022, Rex and Abdullah assaulted two corrections officers while inside the Atlantic County Juvenile Detention Center.
The pair is already serving terms of incarceration due to previous guilty pleas.
The recommended three-year sentences are required to be served consecutively to their previously imposed sentences.
Sentencing is scheduled for July 11th.
The defendants will remain in custody pending sentencing.
