Authorities in Atlantic City arrested two armed teenagers late last week.

On Friday, an ACPD detective received information that two teenagers on the boardwalk were each in possession of a handgun.

Detective Dodson along with numerous other police officers and members of the Surveillance Center searched for and located the juveniles near Arkansas Avenue on the Boardwalk shortly after 10:00 PM.

As officers converged on the group, the two allegedly fled.

  • Sergeant Darrin Lorady chased one juvenile. The juvenile, 15, removed a handgun from his waistband and turned towards Sergeant Lorady who gave commands to drop the weapon. The juvenile complied, dropping the gun and was taken into custody without incident.
  • The second juvenile was quickly apprehended and taken into custody. He discarded a handgun as officers moved in.

Chief James Sarkos said in a statement,

I commend our officers and surveillance personnel for their exceptional dedication and swift action in apprehending two offenders while recovering two dangerous weapons.
