AC Expressway Traffic Stop Leads to Gun, Drug Charges
Three men from Pennsylvania are facing charges after a traffic stop by state police on the Atlantic City Expressway.
Authorities say on the evening of June 13th, cops stopped 25-year-old Dante Johnson-Simmons of Philadelphia on the Expressway in Winslow Township for a traffic violation.
During the stop, a trooper determined that Johnson-Simmons was in possession of a .380 caliber gun and marijuana. Troopers also discovered that 19-year-old Latal Turner, also of Philadelphia and who was in the vehicle with Johnson-Simmons, was in possession of a .40 caliber gun and heroin. A third person in the vehicle, 20-year-old Calvin Cheeze of Cheltenham, PA, was in possession of marijuana. All three were arrested without incident.
Turner was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm while committing a CDS offense, and possession of heroin. He was lodged at the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a bail detention hearing.
Johnson-Simmons was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Calvin Cheeze was charged with possession of marijuana. Those two were released pending a future court date.
