ACFD Rescues Woman Pinned from Underneath Vehicle, One Arrested for DWI
Authorities say a woman suffered serious injuries after being struck and pinned underneath a vehicle Sunday night in Atlantic City.
Just before 11PM Sunday, officers and the Atlantic City Fire Department responded to the 800 block of New Hampshire Avenue for a report of a woman pinned underneath a vehicle, according to Atlantic City Police. First responders arrived to find a large crowd and a person pinned under a Honda Accord.
Cops say firefighters safely freed the victim within several minutes; she was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division with serious injuries.
During the investigation, cops say they learned that the driver of the Honda, 34-year-old Ashley Barksdale of Atlantic City, struck a parked car and then ran over the victim. Barksdale was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
Barksdale was charged with driving while intoxicated and released on a summons with a future court date.
