ACPD: Two Stops, Two Guns Seized, Four Arrested
Saturday was a busy day for cops in Atlantic City as two different traffic stops resulted in two guns being seized and four people being arrested.
Atlantic City Police say one of their officers stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of North Tennessee Avenue around 2:15 Saturday morning. They say 26-year-old Kenshabba Brookens of Atlantic City was arrested after the officer located a loaded handgun and marijuana inside the vehicle.
Brookens was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) and remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Then at around 1:00 that afternoon, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop in the first north block of Michigan Avenue. The driver, 20-year-old Jonathan Garcia of Baltimore, was arrested along with his passengers, 20-year-old Justin Brooks of Baltimore and 20-year-old Justin McDonald of Middle River, MD, after a handgun and more than 50 grams of marijuana was located in the vehicle. Cops say the gun had no serial number or an identifying mark by a federal firearms manufacturer.
Garcia was charhed with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of CDS, possession with intent to distribute CDS, unlawful possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, possession of a large capacity magazine, and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. He was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Both Brooks and McDonald were charged with possession of CDS and possession with intent to distribute CDS. Both were released on a summons with a future court date.
