No one should ever take for granted just how wonderful yet, serious and potentially dangerous airshows can be.

For example, when they fly at air shows, The Air Force Thunderbirds (pictured above in our featured Mark Giannantonio photo) and The Navy Blue Angels are just 18 inches apart from one another during their wingtip-to-wingtip, signature diamond formation.

A reminder was served yesterday at the 25th Thunder Over Michigan Air Show, when a MIG-23 jet experienced a mid-air problem … resulting in the two pilots safely ejecting themselves from the plane and their parachutes safely deployed.

The Detroit, Michigan Metropolitan Airport released a statement, which read:

“The aircraft struck unoccupied vehicles in the apartment complex parking lot. No one at the apartment complex, nor the air show was injured,“ according to the public statement.

The jet crashed near the apartment complex in Belleville, Michigan, at around 4:15 PM yesterday. It landed in the parking lot.

The federal aviation administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.

The Visit Atlantic City Airshow is the largest mid-week airshow in America.

Schultz calls the Atlantic City Airshow … “The Rose Bowl of airshows.” What a profound compliment that is.

With the sudden passing of legendary airshow announcer Howdy McCann, Jr. on March 9, 2023, Eddie Leuter from David Schultz Airshows will serve as announcer.
