Atlantic City & Florida Flights Canceled: The End For Spirit Air?
On April 16, 2026, I shared that things looked bleak for Spirit Air. There were numerous rumors that they were quickly failing and potentially heading towards liquidation.
Is The End of Spirit Air Now Imminent?
There is no official word from Spirit Air as yet, however, the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and others are reporting their demise.
I Have Confirmed The Following:
We know someone who is due to return to Atlantic City tomorrow from Florida. They have received word from Spirit Air that their flight for tomorrow is canceled.
We know someone who was due to return to Atlantic City tomorrow from Florida. They have received word from Spirit Air that their flight for tomorrow is canceled.
Additionally, we know someone else who had already paid for a ticket, with plans to leave for West Palm Beach, Florida on May 11, 2026.

$ 500 Million Dollar Lifeline
Spirit Air was clinging to hopes that they could obtain a $500 million lifeline from the President Trump administration.
This has not occurred, likely leaving Spirit Air no choice, but to liquidate their company.
Spirit Air’s Loss Will likely Be Allegiant Airline’s Gain
This is all too soon to say anything with any degree of certainty, however, Allegiant Air will likely fill the Atlantic City gap that would be left should Spirit Air be forced to close down its operations.
On A Personal Note
I am a decades-long, satisfied, Spirit Air customer. If this happens, I will miss them very much. They have served as well. They have provided convenience and great value for the price.
This all seems so unnecessary, as Spirit Air previously had mergers negotiated and they would have avoided their two previous bankruptcies and this latest moment of truth.
