Two Atlantic City, New Jersey elected officials have confirmed to us that there was a shooting on the evening of Saturday, July 12, 2025.

The shooting occurred at the Ocean Casino Resort in the parking garage.

Ocean Casino Resort personnel were helpful and cooperative from the moment this incident happened. The Atlantic City Police Department corroborates this comment below in our coverage.

Two Atlantic City Elected Officials Confirmed This To Us On Saturday, July 12, 2025

Atlantic City Elected Official # 1 told us at 9:30 p.m. last night:

Good evening Harry just wanted to make you aware of a shooting that has taken place at Ocean Casino in the parking garage. The information I was able to confirm from reliable sources on the scene, where a victim was shot at least twice in the legs, and shell casings were recovered on the 8th floor of the garage.

NBC 10 Philadelphia has reported the following regarding this incident:

Atlantic City Police are investigating a shooting in the parking garage of the Ocean Casino and Resort that occurred on Saturday night, a representative for the hotel confirmed.

Atlantic City Police Department Told NBC 10 Philadelphia:

"This is an active investigation by ACPD, however it appears to be an isolated incident. We have no further comment at this time," the Atlantic City Police told NBC 10 Philadelphia.

Atlantic City Police Department Comments

Due to a swift and combined response between the Atlantic City Police Department's officers, dispatchers, and surveillance personnel, working together with Ocean Casino Security, the suspect was located and arrested less than 20 minutes after the shooting. Based on preliminary investigation this is believed to be an isolated incident with no immediate threat to the public.

ARRESTED:

Ronald Rivers, a 55-year-old male from Atlantic City.

CHARGES:

  • Attempted Murder.
  • Aggravated Assault.
  • Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
  • Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes.
  • Certain Person Not to Possess a Weapon.
  • Possession of a Stolen Handgun.

Rivers was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
