Atlantic City, N.J. — A man from the World's Play Ground is likely facing several years behind bars on multiple drug-related charges.

On Tuesday, 22-year-old Shelton Archer of Atlantic City pleaded guilty to second-degree possession with intent to distribute CDS, three counts of third-degree possession with intent to distribute CDS, and fourth-degree joyriding.

According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office,

  • On September 2nd, 2023, Archer fled from a traffic stop conducted by the Atlantic City Police Department. He was apprehended shortly thereafter and found to have 143 wax folds containing a mixture of heroin and fentanyl, which Archer admitted during his plea that he intended to distribute.
  • On December 27th, 2024, ACPD officers came into contact with Archer, who was found to have 48 wax folds containing a mixture of heroin and fentanyl, which Archer admitted during his plea that he intended to distribute.
  • On May 6th, 2025, ACPD officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Archer. A police K-9 conducted a sniff of the vehicle, which resulted in a positive indication for the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search revealed heroin and fentanyl, marijuana, and mushrooms. Archer admitted during his plea that he intended to distribute the narcotics recovered from the vehicle.

  • On July 17th, 2025, ACPD cops conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had been reported stolen. Archer was a passenger in the vehicle and admitted during his plea to knowing that the vehicle had been stolen.
  • On December 6th, 2025, officers with the ACPD located the defendant asleep in the driver's seat of an idling vehicle. They observed a wax fold in plain view. A subsequent search of Archer and the vehicle revealed a total of 206 wax folds containing a mixture of heroin and fentanyl, which Archer admitted during his plea that he intended to distribute.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 12th. His plea deal calls for a sentence of four years in state prison.
