Atlantic City Man Interrupted While Attempting to Break Into Two Homes
An Atlantic City man was arrested Wednesday after he was interrupted while attempting to burglarize two separate houses, according to police.
The ACPD says officers responded to a home in the 100 block of Adriatic Avenue around 1:00 Wednesday afternoon for a report of a homeowner who had interrupted a man who had entered a garage. The man ran away when confronted.
Ten minutes later, according to police, the same man attempted to burglarize another home in the 100 block of North New Hampshire Avenue. There, a neighbor observed a man attempting to stand on a trash can and climb through a broken window. Like the previous incident, the man ran off when confronted by the neighbor.
Officers that were responding to the second burglary saw 33-year-old Gilbert Bonilla of Atlantic City at Madison and Massachusetts Avenues riding a bike. After a short investigation, Bonilla was arrested and found to be in possession of tools commonly used to commit a burglary.
Bonilla was charged with burglary, attempted burglary, criminal mischief, and possession of burglary tools; he was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
