A Major New Girls Sports Initiative & Scholarship Opportunities

The initiative is aimed at expanding access to athletics for young girls across the city. The program, in partnership with Philadelphia-based nonprofit Eyekonz Sports League, also provides mentorship and leadership opportunities, while helping to create pathways to college scholarships. Full details will be shared during Monday’s announcement, including how Atlantic City families can get involved, said Small.

Girls Sports

For many years, girls sports did not receive the attention that boys programs regularly receive.

Atlantic City has been “light years” ahead of this sad reality.

The Atlantic City High School girls basketball team won multiple NJSIAA Group IV State Championships in the early 1980’s during the Bonita Spence, Pam Elliott, Becky Stewart and Valeria Jones era.
