
It’s Real — Atlantic City Mayor Confirms Key Road Work To Begin
It was billed earlier today as a “Massive” news update in the City of Atlantic City. Mayor Marty Small held a 3:00 p.m. press conference, in which the billing under promised and over delivered.

Atlantic City, New Jersey Mayor Marty Small has confirmed that beginning this Monday, September 21, 2026, at 8:00 p.m., long awaited road improvements will begin.
Road Paving Begins At 8:00 P.M.
The process of paving Atlantic Avenue is here, and, it will begin at Florida and Atlantic Avenue.
The paving work will be done at night, as not to create congestion in Atlantic City. The work hours will be 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, weather permitting.

We’re going to keep our foot on the pedal and accomplish great things for the residents of Atlantic City. Small calls it “paving and behavin.”
But Wait … There’s More

Small also confirmed that road paving will also begin this Monday morning on Pacific Avenue from Hartford Avenue to Arkansas Avenue (Phase 1).
Followed by Arkansas to North Carolina Avenue (Phase 2).
Then, North Carolina to Connecticut (Phase 3).
Fairmount Avenue, from Missouri to the Albany Avenue Bridge will also be done by the end of the year.
For The First Time Ever

The traffic lights will be synchronized. This alone could lead to Small being “Mayor For Life.”

Small spoke about working across the political aisle to get things done and not worrying about partisan party politics.

To Mark The Occasion
Mayor Small is inviting residents and members of the media to join the City for a "Paving & Behavin' Party" right before the Atlantic Avenue work begins. The community celebration will feature food and music at Florida and Atlantic Avenues where milling will begin at 8:00 PM on Monday. The event will culminate with the start of construction, giving, residents and members of the media an opportunity to see crews begin this long-awaited work.

6:30 PM: "Paving & Behavin' Party" begins open to the community
7:45 PM: Remarks from Mayor Small and City officials
8:00 PM: Milling begins from Florida to Mississippi Avenues
"We know our residents, businesses and visitors have been waiting for this work to begin for a very long time, and we are excited to finally reach this point," said Small. "We want the community to be there with us as we mark the start of this final phase and move closer to our new and improved streets. While this is the beginning of the end of this chapter, we're going to continue to keep our foot on the gas under the Small Administration and deliver quality services,” said Small.
