Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small and Atlantic City Superintendent of Public Schools La’Quetta Small will be arraigned on Thursday, October 10, 2024.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed the following:
On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, Marty Small, Sr., 50, and his wife, La'Quetta Small, 47, of Atlantic City, NJ were both indicted for second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Marty Small, Sr. was also indicted for third-degree Terroristic Threats, and third-degree Aggravated Assault.
It has been very disruptive to the normal operating functions of the City of Atlantic City and public schools system with its Mayor, Schools Superintendent and high school principal all being criminally charged and now face returned indictments by an Atlantic County Grand Jury.
Both Marty and La’Quetta Small have continued to work, while they face serious child abuse charges.
On the day that Marty Small was indicted, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy questioned whether Small can effective in his position.
It was an elegant, velvet touch way of saying that Small should resign.
It is a public disgrace and embarrassment that La’Quetta Small continues to work as Superintendent of Public Schools.
By comparison, Days-Chapman was immediately suspended (with full pay and benefits) upon being criminally charged by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Days-Chapman served as campaign manager for Marty Small in his last race for Mayor of Atlantic City.
