Governor-Elect Mikie Sherrill — A Big Bonus For Marty Small

A significant boost for Small is also the fact that Mikie Sherrill will be the next Governor of New Jersey.

Although Small was all in for Sherrill’s chief Democrat rival, Steve Fulop … Sherrill becoming Governor is much better for Small than had Jack Ciattarelli won the Gubernatorial election.

Marty Small Is Facing Serious Criminal Charges— His Trial Begins Very Soon

Here is exactly how the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s describes the criminal indictments of the husband/wife duo of Marty and La’Quetta Small.

Marty Small, Sr., 50, and his wife, La Quetta Small, 47, of Atlantic City, NJ were both indicted for second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Marty Small, Sr. was also indicted for third-degree Terroristic Threats, and third-degree Aggravated Assault. It is alleged that during the months of December 2023 and January 2024, the defendants physically and emotionally abused their 15/16-year-old-daughter on multiple occasions. During one incident, on January 13, 2024, Marty Small, Sr. is alleged to have hit his daughter multiple times in the head with a broom causing her to lose consciousness, said the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

Marty Small Needs An Acquittal Or Hung Jury — Or, He Will Forfeit His Position As Mayor of Atlantic City

If Marty Small is convicted on any of the criminal charges listed above … it’s over for him.

A conviction will result in Marty Small forfeiting his public elective position.

La’Quetta Small formally requested to be separated from Marty Small. The request was approved by then trial judge Bernard DeLury.

DeLury retired before the two Small trials gave begun.

La’Quetta Small’s criminal trial is currently scheduled fun on Monday, January 12, 2026.

Marty Small’s criminal trial is scheduled to begin on Monday, December 1, 2025 … that’s just 20 days from now.

Small Criminal Trial Outcome?

Both Small’s need a jury to acquit them, or, at least one juror to vote against conviction (known as a hung jury).

A hung jury should be good enough, as the state of New Jersey will likely refuse to retry either Small in a second trial.
