
Atlantic City, NJ, Mayor & Wife Win A Major Criminal Trial Motion
New Jersey Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury has consistently ruled against various motions filed Marty and La’Quetta Small.
On Thursday, June 12, 2025, Judge DeLury granted the Small motion to sever Marty and La’Quetta Small from one another.
Big Win for Marty and La’Quetta Small
Instead of facing a joint criminal trial together … they will each receive a separate trial.
It is a big win for Marty and La’Quetta Small … one of the first “wins” that they have had since being indicted for multiple child abuse criminal charges.
A separate Atlantic County Grand Jury indicted Marty small for witness tampering.

Marty Small is the Mayor of Atlantic City and La’Quetta Small is the Atlantic City Superintendent of Public Schools.
Together, they sit at the helm of more than $ 500 million per-year in taxpayer dollars.
The State of New Jersey Now Has A Tougher Job
The State of New Jersey will now have to prepare for two separate cases, instead of being able to try Marty and La’Quetta Small together at one trial.
Here Are The Criminal Charges
Marty and La’Quetta Small face the following:
On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, Marty Small, Sr., 50, and his wife, La Quetta Small, 47, of Atlantic City, NJ were both indicted for second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Marty Small, Sr. was also indicted for third-degree Terroristic Threats, and third-degree Aggravated Assault. It is alleged that during the months of December 2023 and January 2024, the defendants physically and emotionally abused their 15/16-year-old-daughter on multiple occasions. During one incident, on January 13, 2024, Marty Small, Sr. is alleged to have hit his daughter multiple times in the head with a broom causing her to lose consciousness, said the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.
Marty Small also faces a separate indictment for witness tampering.
