Atlantic City, NJ, Police Take Multiple Guns Off The Street

The focus has continued to pay dividends in the pursuit of protecting the safety of the public in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

In the run-up to Christmas, during the early morning hours of December 20, 2024, the Atlantic City Police Department took multiple guns off the street … during an attentive motor vehicle stop … which included Officer Moustafa Maarouf and the assistance of K9 Officer Robert Reynolds, and his K9 partner, Carlo.

About this motor vehicle stop, the Atlantic City Police Department said:

On December 20, 2024, at 2:03 AM, Officer Moustafa Maarouf conducted a motor vehicle stop in the first block of south Florida Avenue. While speaking to the driver, David Barabin, Officer Maarouf observed a powdery substance believed to be narcotics on Barabin's jacket. K9 Officer Robert Reynolds, and his K9 partner, Carlo, who is trained to detect the odor of drugs, assisted in this investigation. K9 Carlo displayed a positive indication for drugs in the vehicle. Officers searched the vehicle locating a bag of heroin and an empty bag that was believed to contain drugs. Also recovered was multiple handguns in parts, ammunition, several knives and machetes, and assorted add-ons for the handguns including weapon mounted lasers. Once further analyzed, Barabin was in possession of three total handguns. Barabin has a criminal history that does not allow him to be in possession of weapons, according to the Atlantic City Police Department.

Pursuant to this motor vehicle stop, the Atlantic City Police Department announced the arrest of:

David Barabin, 47, of Atlantic City, New Jersey.

CHARGES: Unlawful possession of a weapon (eight counts), possession of a defaced firearm (three counts), manufacture a firearm while not licensed, possession of hollow-point ammunition, possession of CDS, and certain person not to possess a weapon (eight counts).
