Atlantic Avenue In Atlantic City Road Paving Will Happen — Here’s How
Residents and visitors have lost patience. This has been a long time coming. But, you can now trust that the road paving of Atlantic City’s, Atlantic Avenue will be taking place during 2026.
Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small

The milling and paving of Atlantic Avenue is now scheduled to begin this fall, no later than the start of October, and will be completed no later than mid-December, said Mayor Small
”Small” Promises To Deliver Big … Much More Than He Originally Promised

The original schedule called for paving to begin this summer. Since then, the Atlantic Avenue Improvement Project has evolved to deliver an even better long-term result. One reason for the adjusted timeline is a new agreement between the City of Atlantic City and Atlantic City Electric where ACE will own, operate, and maintain the lighting
infrastructure, creating significant long-term savings for Atlantic City taxpayers. After the agreement was reached, these additional improvements were proposed, said Small.
The Project Could Have Dragged Into Next Year
The initial project schedule was going to lag and not begin until 2027, However, Small pushed contractors to “accelerate that schedule by reallocating crews from other projects so paving can be completed this year,” said Small.
"I can assure you that from this point forward, you are going to see significant progress as we move toward completion," said Small.
The Delay Is Going To Be Worth It
The initial project schedule called for the repaving of Atlantic Avenue. This is much needed.
The project has expanded and will include a freshly paved Atlantic Avenue and the following:
- Synchronized traffic signals.
- New ADA-accessible sidewalks and curb ramps.
- High-visibility crosswalks.
- Enhanced street lighting.
- Streetscape and beautification improvements.
