North Jersey Man Pleads Guilty After Atlantic City Traffic Stop

Mays Landing, N.J. — A North Jersey man has pleaded guilty to a drug distribution charge following a traffic stop in Atlantic City earlier this year.

43-year-old Colvin Cumberbatch of Piscataway entered his plea last Thursday to a charge of third-degree possession with intent to distribute CDS. The agreement calls for a recommended three-year sentence in state prison.

The case stems from a traffic stop conducted by Atlantic City police on April 1, 2026. During the stop, a police K-9 made a positive indication for the presence of drugs.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says a search of Cumberbatch's person uncovered 213 wax folds of fentanyl, two clear plastic bags containing cocaine, and 43 pills that were later confirmed to be methamphetamine.

Cumberbatch was released pending sentencing over the State's objection.

Sentencing is scheduled for September 29th.
