Atlantic County, EHT, NJ Road – Bridge Reopens Three Months Early

Great news for those who have been taking regular detours in Egg Harbor Township since January 22, 2024, during the elaborate reconstruction of bridge EH-29 over Lakes Creek … on the roadway between Steelmanville Road and English Creek Avenue.

The project was completed a full three months ahead of the expected timetable.

We were so pleasantly surprised when we were able to utilize it a few days ago after more than nine months.

I’m always of the school that the inconvenience is temporary and the improvement is permanent.

This is very good result to be able to avoid the cumbersome detours during the upcoming winter months.

"There are no good detours,"  said Atlantic County Executive Dennis Levinson. "In Atlantic County, many of our roads evolved from old Indian and horse trails used by wagons and stagecoaches, without any idea of the volume of traffic we would experience today,” said Levinson.

"We try to minimize the inconvenience as much as possible," said Levinson. “In this case, we were fortunate to have had favorable weather conditions and readily available resources that enabled us to keep things moving, so much so that we completed the job ahead of schedule. We're pleased with this positive outcome."

Atlantic County government, under the direction of Levinson has run effectively and efficiently.

Levinson regularly meets deadlines and runs under budget.

Atlantic County has had perfect annual audits, year-after-year under Levinson’s frugal management.

Firmer New Jersey State Senate President Steve Sweeney has called Levinson and Atlantic County “The finest run County in the state,” said Sweeney during an on-air interview that we did together while he was the State Senate President.
