Atlantic County, NJ, Endorsement – Governor of New Jersey Details

Unlike the recent Atlantic County, New Jersey Republican Convention … when the only Gubernatorial candidate to attend was Jack Ciattarelli … the Atlantic County Democrats are expecting four Gubernatorial candidates to attend and compete at their 50th Annual Convention on Sunday, March 2, 2025 at Renault Winery, located at 72 Bremen Ave, Egg Harbor City, New Jersey 08215.

The following candidates for Governor submitted letters and will be competing at the Democrat Convention:

• Newark Mayor Ras Baraka.
• United States Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill.
• New Jersey Education Association President Sean Spiller.
• Former New Jersey Senate President Steve Sweeney.

The Atlantic County Democrats have had a long-standing, positive working relationship with Steve Sweeney during his time as New Jersey’s 3rd District Senator and State Senate President.

Although it is an open, competitive election process … it would he surprising if Sweeney didn’t win the Atlantic County Democrat Nomination.

"We cannot wait to celebrate our 'Golden Jubilee' with over 300 enthusiastic Democrats," said Atlantic County Democrat Chairman Michael Suleiman. "At a time when people are deeply concerned about the future of our country, it is imperative that we hold onto a Democratic Governor and a Democratic Legislature in New Jersey,” said Suleiman.

Suleiman also confirmed that:

“Pursuant to the Convention Rules, prospective candidates seeking the endorsement of the Convention had until one week before the Convention to submit letters of intent. The letters required candidates to identify delegates to nominate and second them as well as a commitment by the candidates to abide by the Convention Rules,” said Suleiman.
