The people have spoken. Atlantic County, New Jersey will be represented by split government in the New Jersey General Assembly.

Shocking Results

By early election night, it was apparent that something that no one expected was happening.

Democrats all over the state were having a record night. That included Atlantic County.

Mikie Sherrill has received more than 1.9 million votes in the 2025 General Election. It’s super natural. That’s basically 600,000 more votes than any Democrat or Republican has ever received in New Jersey Gubernatorial history.

Whether you like it, or not, you have to give credit to Sherrill.

Sherrill delivered down ballot, too.

Here are the Atlantic County results that were available on election night (November 4, 2025) for the New Jersey General Assembly.

Incumbent Don Guardian, R-2, was leading by just under 1,000 votes.

However, fellow incumbent Claire Swift, R-2, was in 4th place, trailing both Democrats.

Absolutely no one expected either Democrat to come within 15-20 percentage points of Guardian & Swift.

The Only Votes That Were Left To Count …

Provisional ballots, Drop Box ballots (picked-up right after 8:00 p.m. on Election Day), Cured ballots  (mistakes that can be corrected) and any ballots that were post marked by November 4, 2025, that ultimately arrive after Election Day.

70-75 percent of provisional ballots are thrown out and don’t count.

It was obvious that Democrat Maureen Rowan’s 263 vote lead over Swift was going to hold-up and that Swift was going to be defeated in an election shocker.

After the Atlantic County Board of Elections counted all of the qualified ballots, Rowan increased her margin of victory over Swift by about 100 more votes.

Republicans Were Defeated Throughout The State of New Jersey

Including incumbent Assemblyman Michael Torrissi, R-8 and others, who went down to shocking, wide defeats.

District 8 was reliably Repubkican, whereby Torrissi had won both the elections of 2021 and 2023, comfortably.

The Claire Swift Loss

The loss of Claire Swift really hurts for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Swift is a great legislator, who provided excellence in constituent services.
  • Prodigious fundraiser. This is something that very few are capable of doing. Fortunately, Senator Vince Polistina & Chairman Don Purdy are prolific fundraisers.
  • Swift is incredibly hard-working.
  • Swift is a great teammate, which likely comes from her elite rowing days, and, just a good side of her nature and character.

Congressman Jeff Van Drew Is on The Ballot In 2026

You can’t overstate how important this is. Van Drew has never lost an election and he has always delivered an exceptional coattail effect.

This is a must in order to right the Republican electoral results “ship” in Atlantic County.

The 2027 General Election

Must serve as a reset election for Atlantic County Republicans.

Senator Vince Polistina and Don Guardian will be on tte ballot, and, hopefully the return of Claire Swift.

They will have the opportunity to serve notice that the 2025 election was a fluke.

Cape May GOP & Chairman Michael Donohue

Donohue and CapeGOP were the stars of Decision 2025. Without their supreme and dominating effort, both Assemblymen Antwan McClellan and Erik Simonsen both would have lost their seats on November 4, 2025.

CapeGOP delivered a more than 9,000 vote margin of victory in Cape May, New Jersey.

That is sheer dominance.

Experienced a big fail on General Election Day, 2025.

The CapeGOP bailed-out Cumberland County and held Legislative District 1 together in the 2025 election cycle.
