Award-winning Former Channel 10 News Reporter Dead at Age 76
Published reports say longtime Philadelphia TV news reporter Harvey Clark died earlier this month.
Clark was a reporter at Channel 10 from 1978 to 1991. While he was there, he won several awards for his coverage of the MOVE bombing in Philadelphia in 1985, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. He also hosted a public affairs show, "Channel 10 the People," for a number of years, for which we won several awards.
A bio published by The Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia says Clark grew up in Chicago and before coming to Philadelphia, he served in the United States Navy as an air traffic controller and also worked at WCCO-TV in Minneapolis.
The Philadelphia Tribune reports after he left Channel 10, he worked as a city representative under former Philadelphia Mayor Ed Rendell in the early 90s, he unsuccessfully ran for congress in 1994, and then joined Philadelphia Gas Works where he became their vice president of communications. Clark retired in 2004 and moved to Puerto Rico.
Brown Williams, who was an executive producer at WCAU-TV, said in a statement published by The Tribune, "Harvey was a great storyteller both on and off air. He had a robust personality, a dedication to truth and honesty and anyone who knew him would tell you he never suffered foolish deeds of others."
Clark died on October 16th. He was 76 years old.
