Camden County Man Gets 35 Years for Sexually Assaulting Children
Berlin, N.J. — A Camden County man is headed to prison for more than three decades for sexually assaulting two young girls.
The Burlington County Prosecutor's Office says 55-year-old James Murray of Berlin, who was sentenced to 35 years behind bars, must serve at least 33½ years before becoming eligible for parole.
Murray was found guilty this past December of two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, three counts of second-degree sexual assault, two counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of third-degree obscenity to minors.
Jury Convicts After Short Deliberation
Authorities said following a six-day trial, a jury deliberated for less than three hours before reaching its verdicts.
The prosecutor's office has not released much information about this case to protect the identities of the victims, other than saying the assaults happened "over a period of several years."
Prosecutor Responds to Verdict and Sentencing
Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia Bradshaw said in a statement, "We hope that this outcome brings them some degree of comfort. We will continue to provide support as they strengthen themselves going forward, and we will also continue to seek severe punishment for those who harm children in any manner."
