Best 2 Crab Cakes in the Atlantic City, NJ Area: Different Options
There are many to choose from. Here’s my case for the best two crab cakes available in the Atlantic City, New Jersey area.
Full disclosure, one of them is not easy to get and I thought it was gone forever.
Let’s start with this one, which is made by long-time Angeloni’s II Restaurant and Lounge in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Chef Diane.
When Alan Angeloni sold his iconic restaurant to Ronald and Julie Aspell, I thought this iconic crab cake was gone forever.
However, the new Angeloni’s restaurant had them not long ago during a special offering.
Chef Diane’s crab cake is fantastic. There is no filler, all delicious crab meat.
Here is a wonderful example of Chef Diane’s crab cake (below):
Next, is my favorite crab cake of its style, created by the legendary Bobby Chez.
I miss his long-standing Margate restaurant so much. However, they are available world-wide by online purchase.
Bobby Chez has perfected flash freezing them. They are packed perfectly and arrive in the mail in a cooler.
There are as good as when I regularly got them fresh at the Margate store.
The Bobby Chez lump crab cake is perfection.
Big chunks of jumbo lump crabmeat and no filler whatsoever. There also is literally “secret sauce” inside … a secret, creamy roux.
Another key is the Japanese breadcrumbs, that absorbs less oil, making for the perfect blend of textures that incorporate wonderfully together.
Here are photos of actual Bobby Chez crab cakes that I have purchased and thoroughly enjoyed.
Bobby Chez crab cakes are easy to purchase online, a 10-pack will cost $ 14 each, plus shipping.
For Chef Diane’s, you’ll have to wait for the next time that Angeloni’s offers them on special … but, no guarantee that they’ll be back, again.
Below, is a great photo gallery of 10 outstanding restaurants in the Atlantic City area, along with terrific main course entrées that they serve now or did so in the recent past.
Bon appétit.
