Best Game Show Host Ever Dies – Hosted Atlantic City Miss America

My favorite all time television game show host has died today at age 99.

He also served as Master of Ceremonies for Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants for 20 years.

He served as host for two of the greatest television game shows of all time … “Truth or Consequences” and “The Price is Right.”

I’m talking about the one and only Bob Barker.

Barker’s personality as a game show host was incomparable.

Bob Barker was born on December 12, 1923 in Darrington, Washington.

After his Father died in a workplace incident, Barker and his Mother moved to a Sioux Indian reservation in Mission, South Dakota, at the age of 6.

Barker served during the final two years of World War II in the United States Navy.

Barker’s longtime publicist released word today that, "It is with profound sadness that we announce that the World's Greatest MC who ever lived, Bob Barker has left us," said publicist Roger Neal.

I strongly agree with Neal’s assessment about Barker.

When Barker took over the “Price is Right” in 1972, it was sagging in the ratings.

Barker returned it to greatness.

“The Price is Right” was a ratings juggernaut in the 1950’s, only to see a massive decline in popularity before Barker.

In my view, the show has never been the same since Barker retired in 2007.

Drew Carey is the current host of “The Price is Right.”

It’s very hard to follow the greatest of all time in any endeavor. That is what Carey has had to do.

I just heard another legendary game show host, Wink Martindale just tell the Fox News Channel that Bob Barker is the greatest game show host of all time.

I further just learned in this live interview that in 35 years as host of “The Price is Right,” that Bob Bsrker only missed one taping session of the show.

Barker only missed filming television episodes in 35 years.

That’s G O A T status for sure!
