Atlantic City, NJ, Principal — Big Taxpayer Expense, But, Here’s Why
Many are understandably mad upon hearing the news that Atlantic City High School Principal Constance Days-Chapman has received more than $ 338,000 for her criminal defense expenses.
However, there is so much more to this story.
Bungled Prosecution
The usually reliable Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office blew this one big time regarding the Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small, Atlantic City Superintendent La’Quetta Small and Days-Chapman criminal cases.
$ 338,770.07 Taxpayer Dollars
That’s only the taxpayer reimbursement for Days-Chapman’s legal costs and her attorney, Lee Vartan.
Vartan’s defense of Days-Chapman was masterful, almost stealth, yet effective.
Whether you like it or not, Days-Chapman is legally entitled to this reimbursement.
New Jersey law specifically outlines the remedy for Days-Chapman in NJSA 18A:16-6.1, which states that the board of education is allowed to:
Defray all costs of defending the employee, including reasonable attorney fees, including costs of appeal, but only if the employee wins the case.
You should be aware that there is much more to follow regarding Marty and La’Quetta Small.
Days-Chapman could also file a further damages case in the future.
If You’re Mad … Direct It In The Right Direction
The Atlantic County Prosecutor, Will Reynolds brought 3 really bad cases forward in Small, Small and Days-Chapman.
Reynolds didn’t have the “goods” and he alone is responsible for the massive taxpayer expenses that were spent on his side of this matter. We will report the taxpayer expenses (just the prosecution side) for these 3 cases in the future.
And, Reynolds will ultimately be responsible for additional, massive taxpayer expenses that are still to follow.
Marty Small has amassed about $ 500,000 in legal expenses for this bogus prosecution.
This prosecution should never have occurred and Small is also entitled to reimbursement and potential damages to his reputation.
Small was basically called a child abuser for two years and had to run in 2 elections while under this cloud of suspicion .
The same holds true for La’Quetta Small.
During The Days-Chapman Suspension
Days-Chapman used her suspension from employment like a sabbatical, whereby she earned her doctorate.
Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small
The criminal charges against Marty Small were totally bogus. Small Should never have been criminally charged.
The noted criminal defense attorney, the legendary Ed Jacobs said from Day 1 “that this was a personal family matter” and it had no place in a criminal courtroom.
Some still don’t accept this explanation … but, it’s absolutely true.
Atlantic County Jury & Mayor Marty Small
This is the actual courtroom where the Marty Small trial was held.
Remember, an Atlantic County Jury listened to and read all of the so called evidence that the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office had to offer.
Just a few days before Christmas, 2025, the jury handed Marty Small an overwhelming victory and vindication.
