Boardwalk Robbery Suspect Arrested in Atlantic City
A man from Camden has been charged with robbery after cops say he attempted to steal a tip jar and got away with a small amount of money from an Atlantic City beach bar Sunday.
34-year-old Otis Vidal of Camden was arrested about an hour after the incident happened at Celebrity Corner Beach Bar and Grill in the 3100 block of the Boardwalk just before 7:00 Sunday evening.
Cops say Vidal entered the bar and attempted to steal a tip jar. An employee grabbed the jar and attempted to pull it back. Vidal was able to grab a small amount of money and as he attempted to leave, a second employee closed the door and confronted him. Vidal shoved the employee out of the way and fled. The employee was treated on scene by medical personnel for an injury, according to police.
The ACPD says surveillance center personnel reviewed camera coverage from the area; Vidal was seen leaving the Boardwalk and walking along Pacific Avenue. He later returned to the Boardwalk where surveillance center personnel advised officers; he was arrested without incident in the 2600 block of the Boardwalk.
Vidal was charged with robbery and remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
