
Arrest Made in Connection with Bridgeton, NJ Pedestrian Hit-and-run
A Cumberland County man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian in critical condition.
The Bridgeton Police Department says that at about 6 PM on Sunday, November 2nd, they were called to the intersection of Garfield and South Avenues for a pedestrian motor vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim, identified as 62-year-old Steven Calloway of Bridgeton, suffering from apparent injuries. He was initially taken to Bridgeton Inspira Hospital before being flown to Cooper Medical Center in Camden, where he remains in critical condition.
Officials say following an investigation, detectives were able to locate the vehicle that was involved. This past Thursday, police arrested and charged 32-year-old Brayan Laverde-Torres in Bridgeton.
Laverde-Torres was charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury, hindering apprehension or prosecution, and obstructing administration of law or other governmental function.
He is being held at the Cumberland County Jail.
