Cops in Atlantic City say a man from Bridgeton was shot in the city late Monday night and two people - one 14-years-old - have been arrested and charged with attempted murder.

The Atlantic City Police Department says their officers responded to the 400 block of Kentucky Avenue for a ShotSpotter alert around 10:30PM Monday. Arriving officers located a 35-year-old man from Bridgeton suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

While officers were initially investigating the incident, they were told of individuals hiding in the rear of a nearby residence. Officer Adrian Nunez-Santos began to search and observed three males running between yards. Officer Nunez-Santos along with Officers Mailon Demby and Elijah Johnson apprehended two males, a 14-year-old male and Saalih Davis. The juvenile male was found in possession of two handguns. Davis was found in possession of several bags of heroin.

Following an investigation by ACPD detectives, the teenager and Davis were charged in connection to the shooting.

The 14-year-old male from Atlantic City has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, two counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and conspiracy. He was remanded to Harborfields Detention Facility.

20-year-old Saalih Davis of Atlantic City was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of CDS, and conspiracy. He was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

Police say this remains an active investigation. Charges are mere accusations and the accused are considered innocent until proven guilty.
