Getting closer! Buc-ee’s soon to be only 2 states away from New Jersey
Good news: if you have a sudden craving for beaver nuggets, they're inching closer and closer to New Jersey.
If you know what beaver nuggets are and are actually craving them, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
If not, allow me to fill you in.
Beaver nuggets are one of the top selling snacks at Buc-ee's, the convenience store chain that has a cult-like following unlike any other you've ever experienced before.
You know how everyone in New Jersey loves Wawa? Multiply that by about a bazillion and you have Buc-ees' fanbase.
But if you're thinking, "It's just another convenience store," think again.
The average Wawa store these days is just over 4,000 square feet and has a dozen or so gas pumps.
A typical Buc-ee's is ten times that size with, in some cases, well over 100 gas pumps. In fact, one of their stores in Texas is the largest convenience store in the world.
And once inside, you are immediately overloaded with all kinds of food: an entire wall of jerky, BBQ made right in the store, fried chicken, candy, banana pudding... the list goes on and on.
And bathrooms that are so clean, they win awards.
So where is this magical land?
The Buc-ee's chain started in Texas and has slowly expanded across the country. With over 30 stores in the Lonestar State now, you'll also find Buc-ee's as far west as Colorado, down into Florida, and across the Mid-west.
But none are anywhere in New Jersey — but they are getting closer. Slowly.
Closest Buc-ee's to New Jersey
Right now, if you wish to visit the closest Buc-ee's to the Garden State, you'd be hopping on I-95 and making the 850+ mile trek down to Florence, South Carolina.
However, plans are now in the works to bring a Buc-ee's to Huber Heights, Ohio, which is right outside of Dayton.
That'll mean Buc-ee's will be two states over from New Jersey and only about 550 miles away (using Cherry Hill as a starting point).
Yes, that's still a really far drive to visit a mini-mart, but 550 is much closer than 850.
Will Buc-ee's Ever Come to New Jersey?
That's a million-dollar question.
Best we can tell, there are no plans for the chain to build a store in New Jersey anytime soon. Obviously, one major hurdle is the fact that New Jersey is the last state offering full-service gas, which means they would have to hire an insane number of people to work the 80 to 120 gas pumps typically found at their stores.
But there's always hope...
