Camden, N.J. — A Camden man with fourteen prior felony convictions has been found guilty of illegally possessing a loaded revolver after a chase that ended with him pointing the gun at a bystander on the street.

42-year-old Michael Webb was convicted by a federal jury on June 18th.

Running From U.S. Marshals

Federal authorities said in May 2024, the U.S. Marshals Service Regional Fugitive Task Force in Camden received a request from Colorado to help arrest Webb, who had an active warrant for violating the conditions of his parole in that state.

On May 13, 2024, Task Force officers went to the area of 34th and Rowe in Camden after receiving information that Webb might be there. They watched him leave a home, get into a car, and drive down Rowe Street. When an officer moved to stop him, Webb ran.

According to officials, he sped away, crashed into a parked car, and took off on foot, pointing a gun at a Camden resident as he ran. Webb cut through yards and jumped fences until he hit a black metal gate he couldn't get over. Officers arrested him there and found a fully loaded silver revolver in the grass on the other side of the gate; his DNA was on it.

Long Criminal History

Webb was previously convicted of fourteen felonies, including a bias-motivated crime causing bodily injury in Colorado in 2021, and aggravated assaults with firearms in Camden in 2017 and 2019.

Potential Sentence

Sentencing is scheduled for October 28th. The conviction carries a maximum penalty of 15 years behind bars and a $250,000 fine.
