The New York Red Bulls are one of the most known teams in the MLS and are one of many connected Red Bull soccer clubs in the world. Could this be the year that the Red Bulls finally win their first-ever MLS Cup?

Can the Red Bulls win the MLS Cup this season? They have been to one MLS Cup final, back in 2008 when they were defeated by the Columbus Crew. Now in their twenty-eighth season, the Red Bulls are out of the playoff mix as the season hits the pause button for the League's Cup.

Meanwhile, the other team in town, New York City FC, who is competing in their ninth MLS season, is also sitting on the outside looking in at a playoff berth, as both teams sit with 26 points on the season.

Let's take a look at the odds for the MLS cup this season.

Breakdown: It appears the New York sportsbooks as per NY.bet experts don't expect the Red Bulls to reach the playoffs this season. They will need a big effort from guys like Frankie Amaya, Omir Fernandez, and Dante Vanzeir down the stretch. The team's best shot to advance to the MLS playoffs this season would be for continued strong play from Carlos Coronel and the back end, which has been solid since the first 10 games of the season.

The Red Bulls are currently out of a playoff spot and their 100/1 (+10000) odds are even worse than their city counterparts at NYCFC, who currently sit at +8000 at many sports books.

For NYFC to make a surprise run, Gabriel Pereira, Santiago Rodríguez, and Talles Magno need to take their play to another level. One issue for NYCFC has been goaltending, with Luis Barraza replacing Sean Johnson this season, and Matt Freese waiting for his turn in goal.

I'm passing on both teams to make the playoffs this season.

The Pick: My choice would be one of the new kids on the block, St. Louis City FC, which is playing in its expansion season. Over the years we have seen a grab bag of results from these new expansion clubs with teams like Atlanta charging out the gates and establishing themselves as a force in the league from day one. Other teams like Nashville and Charlotte are taking more time in this league and are trying to pull themselves out of the cellar and establish themselves with more prominence. Saint Louis is definitely more like Atlanta and came out the gate to be top of the Western Conference when the league stopped for the Leagues Cup. With a goalie like former Dortmund player Roman Burki, who might be the MLS Newcomer of the Year, and forward Nicholas Gioacchini, you can expect St. Louis City SC to continue their fine form, and to be able to get them at +1000 with some of these NY gambling sites is good value for a team that is currently sitting at the top of the standings with the best goal differential in the MLS.
