Coast Guard Rescues Man from Open Water Off Cape May Coast
Video footage surfaced Sunday showing a man treading open water while a helicopter and crew worked to rescue him.
6ABC.com reports the man in the video was being rescued by the Coast Guard about 200 miles off the coast of Cape May after his boat caught fire and began to take on water.
A different ship heard the man's distress call from his sinking sailboat, called the Serena, and forwarded along the signal.
Reportedly, the ship that forwarded the Serena's distress call was the Hellas Posiedon which, according to the Chief Warrant Officer, is responsible for the man's survival.
