Collingswood, NJ, man gets light prison sentence for 45,000 child porn files
A Camden County man has received a relatively light prison sentence for having a staggering number of child sexual abuse files on his electronic devices.
Robert Giles of Collingswood, NJ, Sentenced
73-year-old Robert Giles of Collingswood, having pleaded guilty in Camden federal court to one count of possession of child pornography, was sentenced to 33 months, or less than three years, behind bars.
45,000 Child Porn Files
Federal authorities say on April 15, 2022, FBI agents served a search warrant at Giles' home and discovered electronic devices. A forensic examination of those devices revealed over 45,000 files containing videos and images of children being sexually abused.
In addition to the prison term, Giles was sentenced to a decade of supervised release and fined $186,500.
U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger credited special agents of the FBI and the Collingswood Police Department for their work in this case. The government was represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Johns of the Criminal Division in Camden.
