Cops in Ocean County say a pair of multi-state shoplifters from Brooklyn, NY, has been arrested.

Last month, officers with the Manchester Township Police Department responded to Rite Aid in their town for the report of two men who had shoplifted over $500 worth of cold medicine. Officers were able to obtain surveillance footage of the two and an investigation revealed that the duo, identified as 35-year-old Lasha Dekanoidze and 38-year-old Giorgi Adeishvili, were also allegedly involved in shoplifting incidents in Toms River and Springfield, NJ.

Further police work, this time involving officers with the Plymouth Township, PA, police department, revealed that the two could also be connected to shoplifting incidents in several towns in Pennsylvania and New York.

Earlier this week, Dekanoidze and Adeishvili turned themselves into the Manchester Township Police Department; they were both charged with third-degree shoplifting. In accordance with New Jersey Bail Reform, Dekanoidze was released on a summons and Adeishvili was transported to the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.

Additional charges in other municipalities are possible as other police departments investigate shoplifting incidents in their areas.
