Authorities say a man who was wanted in connection to a shooting in Massachusetts late last week has been arrested in the Garden State.

According to WRGB-TV in Albany, NY, officers with the Pittsfield, MA, police department responded to an area hospital this past Friday afternoon for the report of a shooting victim.

"The victim, a 34 year old male Pittsfield [MA] resident, sustained a serious but non-fatal injury. . . . Investigators developed information that 42 year old Pittsfield resident Terrell Ortiz was the shooter. Ortiz and the victim are known to one another and investigators do not believe that this was a random act."

Ortiz was charged on Friday with assault and battery by discharging a firearm.
