Countdown to Miss America 2017 — Who Won in the Preliminaries
The second night of the Miss America Preliminaries are in the books. Congratulations to Miss Arkansas and Miss Maryland for their big prelim wins!
Miss Arkansas, Savvy Shields, won a $2,000 scholarship by taking the Talent portion of the preliminaries. Shields performed a jazz dance routine.
Shore News Today reports that Miss Maryland, Hannah Brewer, was the Lifestyle and Fitness winner and will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
Congratulations to Miss Miss Tennessee, Grace Burgess and Miss District of Columbia, Cierra Jackson. Burgers was Tuesday night's winner of the talent competition. She won a $2,000 scholarship by singing Desperado. Miss DC takes home a $1,000 scholarship by winning the Lifestyle and Fitness portion of the competition.
And a huge congratulations to our own Miss New Jersey, Brenna Weick for winning the bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award! According to Wikipedia, "this award recognizes adolescents and young adults for completing a series of self-improvement exercises".

The 96th Annual Miss America Pageant is set for Sunday, September 11th at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
