The Atlantic County, New Jersey Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that an Egg Harbor Township man has been sentenced in the shooting death of his girlfriend.

Kevin Dorsey Has Been Sentenced
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Has Confirmed
On (Wednesday) March 18, 2026, the Honorable Ralph Paolone, J.S.C. sentenced Kevin Dorsey, 53, of Egg Harbor Township, NJ to an aggregate term of 20 years in New Jersey State Prison, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Egg Harbor Township Police Department Role Was Significant
According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office:
“On October 26, 2023, members of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department responded to a 911 call at a residence on Zion Road. Upon arrival, police located the victim, Charlena Burnett, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was later pronounced deceased.”
The Following Conducted This Investigation
- Members of the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's Major Crimes Unit.
- Egg Harbor Township Police Department
They confirmed that Dorsey shot Burnett multiple times inside their bedroom.
The Egg Harbor Township Police seized the handgun (a revokver) that was in this crime.
Additionally, Dorsey, is considered to be “a certain person prohibited from lawfully acquiring firearms.”Dorsey admitted to buying the gun illegally the year before using it to kill Burnett.
Dorsey Has Been Jailed
Since his arrest on October 26, 2023.
