
Man Charged With DUI After Early Morning Crash in Egg Harbor Twp., NJ
- Early Monday morning, a vehicle struck a utility pole in Egg Harbor Township
- One passenger sustained minor injuries in the crash
- Police have charged the driver and are continuing their investigation
Early Morning Crash in Egg Harbor Township
Cops in South Jersey have charged a man following an early morning accident in Egg Harbor Township.
EHT Police say the incident happened just after 12:30 AM Monday along Ocean Heights Avenue in the area of South Jersey Yachts.
Investigation
According to officials, their investigation revealed that a 2010 GMC Yukon, being driven by 24-year-old Cleesman Lopez-Cruz, was traveling westbound on Ocean Heights Ave. when it left the roadway and struck an Atlantic City Electric utility pole, "causing significant damage to both the vehicle and pole."
A 25-year-old passenger from Atlantic City sustained minor injuries.
Charges Filed
As a result of the investigation, Lopez-Cruz was arrested, charged, and released on a summons for the following:
- Driving Under the Influence
- Fourth-degree Assault by Auto
Ocean Heights Avenue was closed for about 12 hours while the scene was cleared and the pole was replaced.
Road Closures and Investigation
This crash is being investigated by Ofc. Kevin Brady with the Egg Harbor Township PD's Traffic Safety Unit. Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to call (609) 926-4021.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
